Soundike's File Settings

After various issues, complaints and problems, we've decided to no longer support or recommend Soundike. Check out our comparison page for some alternative mp3 download sites.

If you've ever downloaded music from somewhere you shouldn't or from a dodgy looking site, you'll know that the file names are messy. The artist, album and track name will all be written in track name, so sorting by artist on your mp3 player becomes impossible. Finding songs from specific albums is just not an option. Well, Soundike have had a little think about this problem and have come up with a solution that is better than just keeping the names tidy. After registering, you need to confirm your email address in order to get your $0.30 free and to have full access to the site. Once you've done that, you can go to the 'User Info' menu at the top of the site. This is where you can add extra info about yourself di you want to, like name, phone number, date of birth etc (these are all optional). Right at the very bottom is the 'Site Settings' menu. This is where you can chose how you want your music downloads to be named. You can decide if you want track number to appear first, artist etc. You can even pick the spacer between the words. You can have - or . or a load of other characters! You can also customise the look of the your area little here too. This is a great feature that works well I think. Get over to Soundike to have a look at this for yourself and of course, to grab your free tracks.

Soundike Charts

After various issues, complaints and problems, we've decided to no longer support or recommend Soundike. Check out our comparison page for some alternative mp3 download sites.

Soundike are a brilliant site for music downloads. They offer bags of songs to look through, soundtracks, genres, new releases and loads of other little menus and features to help us pick some new tunes to download and chuck on our iPods. But they also have an extensive list of charts. Some are very odd, but even so, I love it! It's inspiration, something to browse through when you're a bit bored and not sure what to download. So what charts do they have listed: USA Top 100 UK Top 75 Canada Top 100 German Top 50 European Top 100 Indie Top 200 France Top 50 Italy Top 50 Digital Top 20 MTV Chart R&B/Hip-Hop Soundike Best Sellers And don't forget the all important... Soundike's F.A.Q - Actually Helpful!

After various issues, complaints and problems, we've decided to no longer support or recommend Soundike. Check out our comparison page for some alternative mp3 download sites.

Most of these cheap mp3 sites list very little information about themselves or their service in their frequently asked questions section. You're always kind of left to work it out for yourself. However, Soundike seem to have stepped up the game and they now offer extensive q & a to their customers about their service. Things like how to use the music you download, how to get refunds, the legal side of it all, how to transfer, listen to, etc etc. They cover just about everything. Get over to Soundike's help section now for all you need to know about downloading music, making it work on your iPod anything else you want to know.

What Payment Options Are There?

So out of the four sites I review, what is the best for me to use based on their payment method options?

Well, as you might expect, each one allows you to pay slightly differently.

This site takes MasterCard, Visa, Visa Electron (handy for the students among us!), Maestro, uKash, PaySafe and DaoPay. The minimum top up is €19.95.

MP3va accept MasterCard and Visa only. They did offer PayPal, but this has since been removed. I have contacted them about this and it is due to be added soon. Watch this space! The minimum top up on both sits is $14.95.

I'm always posting news about the cheap mp3 sites I have reviewed on here, but what I have never blogged about is which site is my favourite and which I would recommend. So I thought it was about time I did!

As you may have gathered, I love all four sites I have on here. They each have their own pros and cons, but they all stand out from the hundreds of other cheap mp3 sites on the web for me for one reason or another.

So, which one do I recommend?

If you want a low minimum top up, MP3va is the one for you with a $19.95 top up amount. Read Review...

And finally, if you want a huge music library, MP3Million is the site for you, with songs costing €0.10 (equal to 15¢) it's the second cheapest. Read Review...

My Top Recommended Site: MP3Million. I have chosen MP3 Million as the top site because:

  • The music library dwarfs the other three sites with 400,000 more cheap mp3 songs
  • MP3 Million give you 10 free songs when you register with them. (Legal Sounds offer this too)
  • There is a large selection of payment methods
  • Their top up/sign up offers of free credit are very generous and are renewed regularly

Remember, all songs on MP3 Million are DRM free, so can be played anywhere on anything (as long as it plays mp3s of course). MP3 Million also have excellent customer service, so if you're stuck with anything, they are very helpful and

Check out MP3Million for yourself now, or read the review. You can also compare all four sites in the comparison table.

MP3va Payment Method Change

MP3va have always been one of the better sites because they accepted PayPal as a payment method. They have now removed this feature from their site. You can still pay by MasterCard and Visa.

I contacted them about this, and you can still pay by PayPal. You need to go into PayPal, click 'send money'. Send it to with your email address as the description. Once you've done this, you need to send them a quick email saying what PayPal account they will be receiving money from, the amount (minimum of $25.00 still applies) and what MP3va account you want refilled.

They will do the rest. So if you're uncomfortable about giving out credit card details, there is a way round this. I'm sure if we contacted LegalSounds, MP3Million or Soundike, they have the same sort of procedure in place to allow you to pay by PayPal.
